Your written discharge plan comes first. These instructions must be tailored to your treatment and medical history. For combined procedures, ask the team for one coordinated plan; do not choose between conflicting instructions yourself.

01 · Understanding recovery

What to expect.

Surgical lip augmentation and injectable filler require different care. This page applies to a surgical lip procedure; use the filler page for injections.

02 · The details matter

Your care plan.

  • Protect the incision from stretching and direct pressure. Follow your surgeon’s instructions for mouth rinses and food texture if the incision is inside the mouth.
  • Do not manipulate an implant or massage the lips unless directed. Avoid biting numb tissue and very hot food or drinks until sensation returns.
  • Use only the prescribed cleaning products and leave sutures in place. Keep cosmetics away from open incisions.
03 · At your own pace

Activity & recovery.

  • Avoid forceful lip movements, strenuous exercise, and activities that pull on the incision until cleared.

Follow your team’s specific instructions for medicines, wound care, and safe movement. Do not drive while taking sedating medicines or until you can safely operate a vehicle and your surgeon clears you.
